Description:

China, Daoguang period, dated 1843
L. 167 cm, B. 37,5 cm
Dark blue silk gauze (horizontal stripes leno weave alternating with six wefts plain weave), embroidered on both sides with colored leno silk in satin stitch. Sewn together from two pieces. Remnants of a border at the sides. On each side a rising large dragon with four claws, striving between clouds for a flam ing pearl. On the side a dedication of Li Hui and dated according to the lunar calendar to the first day of the fifth month of the year Guimao (1843) of the Daoguang period
