Compare this rare decorated censer with a similar painted vase preserved in the collection of Sir Michael Butler, published by Canepa/ Butler ‚Leaping the Dragon Gate‘, London, 2021, no. III.5.15, p. 504, Inv.no. 1217 where the author notes that similar decorated pieces were certainly produced for the Domestic market. See also another vase from the Percival David Collection, preserved in the British Museum. This vase has also a rare enamel decoration of peony flowers and a phoenix and a red enamel inscription on the base inside the foot. The inscription reads 長命葍貴 (chang ming fu gui ‘long-life riches and honour’), PDF 758 - Slightly chipped, minor wear
