D. 18,3 cm
Three large peaches in intense red-cyclamen-coloured enamel around the wall.
From an old North German private collection, collected before 1980
The minimalist design of the red fruits is indebted to the early creations of the Ming dynasty. Xuande prototypes were excavated from the waste heaps of the Ming imperial kilns in Zhushan, Jingdezhen; see a fragmentary stemmed cup with Xuande mark, published in Imperial Porcelain: Recent Discoveries of Jingdezhen Ware, Museum of Oriental Ceramics, Osaka, 1995, cat.No. 43, together with an unmarked example, cat. no. 44 - Small filled chips to the rim.
