China, Kangxi six-character marks, 18th/ 19th c.H. 24,8 cm (o.S.)
Of amphora shape with ovoid body and flaring neck, all under yellow-glaze stopping neatly around the white-glazed base, the interior partly glazed yellow. underglaze blue six-character marks inside the bases. Finely carved zitan stands.
Old European private collection, assembled prior to 1990
These vases belongs to the classical group of the ‘Eight Objects for the Scholar's Desk’, whose peachbloom glazed items were very popular in the Kangxi period (cf. Suzanne Valenstein, A Handbook of Chinese Ceramics, New York 1989, p. 237).- Very minor traces of age, good condition
