Description:
Tibet, ca. 14th/ 15th c.H. 8,8 cm, Gewicht 220 gr.
Standing in pratyalidhasana on a lotus-base with his right arm raised with the hand brandishing a vajra, the left placed in front of his breast showing the tarjanimudra, wearing tiger-skin draped around his loins, scarf floating around his neck, bejewelled, his face displaying a wrathful expression with bulging eyes below raised eyebrows, hooked nose, open mouth showing a double row of teeth, elongated earlobes with floral-shaped ear-ornaments and his hair combed in a low chignon secured with a tiara, re-sealed.
From the estate of the collections of Consul General Heinrich Betz (1873-1957) and his son Erwin Betz (Tianjin 1907 - Bonn 1982), assembled in China before 1945, sold from a family member at Nagel, 14.5.1999, lot 1209a - Very minor traces of age
