Werner ran a jeweller's shop at Friedrichstraße 173 in Berlin from around 1870. He was court jeweller to the German imperial family and purveyor to the court for various German royal houses. In 1907 he opened a branch in the Mondänen Hotel Adlon at the Brandenburg Gate. Louis Werner and his son Eckart amassed an üextremely important collection of Prussian art. Today it is owned by the Order of St John.
