Description:
Japan, Meiji Period, late 19th c.H. 90 cm / ca. 117 cm
on tripod feet, each shaped like the head of a Kirin with tongues extending outward. A winding dragon, clutching a tama in its right claw, serves as the support for a bowl formed by three lotus petals, which is mounted within the dragon's wide-open mouth. Mounted on base.

From the collection of Dr C. Duisberg, acquired prior to 1930 - Partial age damage and surface change due to many years of presentation in the park. The cast concrete base, with the engraved year 1992, likely left by a park visitor hoping to leave a lasting memory.
