Tate-maru-gata. Shakudo, maru-bori, iroe-taka-zogan in gold, silver and copper. War scene.

The lavish illustrations from Chinese and Japanese history are very typical of the Sôten school. Typical and especially popular subjects, were scenes from the war between Minamoto and the Taira, or the Japanese expedition to Korea under Hideyoshi. Very often a meticulous thoroughness had been displayed with the detailed, fine finishing of the faces and armours of the figures
