Ink Orchid. Album leaf, ink on paper. Signature by the artist: “Guxiang”. Two seals of the artist: “Youshi”, “Seal of Wang Luzhi” (Wang Luzhi yin).
Old and important European private collection, assembled before 1930 and between 1950 and 1980 - Minor traces of age
Wang Guxiang, style names Luzhi and Youshi, was from a prominent family of doctors in Suzhou. From 1528 to 1535 he served as a member of the Hanlin Academy in Peking and Vice Secretary at the Imperial court. After returning to his home town Suzhou he devoted his life to poetry and the painting of flowers, mainly in plain ink style
