Fisherwomen at work. Ink and colors on paper, mounted, framed and glazed. Signature by the artist: "Lin Fengmian". One seal of the artist: "Seal of Lin Fengmian" (Lin Fengmian yin). On the back of the frame a written note: "Lin Fong Ming, Shanghai 1937". Lin Fengming ("The Phoenix cries") was the original name of Lin Fengmian, but in 1937 he already used his new name. Broad and heavy brushstrokes defining the simplifed forms are the main expressive means derived from traditional Chinese painting. The colors are added afterwards filling the forms and adding to the dark and uneasy mood of the picture.
Formerly from an old European private collection, assembled between 1960 and 1990 - Minor traces of age
