Scholar's studio in the pine grove. India ink and light colours on paper, framed under glass. Inscription and signature of the artist: "Scholar studio in the pine grove. Painted in the winter of the xinwei year (1871/1931) for the old Daoist friend Yao, Shi Yuhou". Two seals of the artist: "Shi Yuhou", "Yijiu".
Collection Klaus Nierhoff (1926 - 2011), acquired before 2007
Shi Yuhou, man's name Yijiu, came from Qingpu, which today belongs to Shanghai. He was a pupil of Gong Yunpeng and specialised in landscape painting in the style of the famous masters of the Song and Yuan dynasties, as this picture shows - Traces of age, minor rest.
