Japan, Kyoto, signed Tadamitsu 忠光, early 19th century.
H. 3 cm, B. 4,2 cm
The head turned back over his left shoulder, holding his tail in his mouth. Finely engraved details, signed on the bottom in an oval reserve. Beautiful age patina.
From an old private collection Rhineland, coll. no. 11, sold by Van Ham Cologne, 18/19 November 1977, formerly collection Paul Vautier (1865-1938), acquired in Japan around 1910, sold in 1918 to Friedhelm Haniel (1888-1938), Düsseldorf, bought by Offermann & Schmitz from Carola van Ham, Cologne, 18/19 November 1977, then acquired by the collector from Offermann & Schmitz in December 1977 (With annotation Ex.- Coll.
