Description:
Tibet, 17th cent.65 x 55 (95 x 70) cm
The painting is showing the central esoteric divinity in a triangle, standing with his multiple legs in pratyalidhasana on various figures, his six arms radiating around his body, the hands holding attributes, wearing tiger-skirt, bejewelled, a diminutive figure placed at his chest, his triple faced head displaying each a wrathful expression, flaming hairdo decorated with birds and a snake, his female partner is encircling his left leg, offering him a blood-filled skull-cup, both surrounded by four concentric bands showing each a variety of divinities, partly riding an animal, all placed within the square walled palace encircled by further concentric bands of lotus petals, the eight graveyards and flames, the upper register with three groups of deities, lamas and mahasiddhas, the lower part with a group of lamas, and a priest seated on a throne in front of a table with offerings flanked by attendants and some monks, in silk mounting
