China, Qianlong seven-character mark, 18th/ 19th cent.H. 18 cm
Seated in vajrasana on a double cushion covered with a blanket, all incised with various musters including scrolling tendrils, lotuses, mountainous landscape, both hands in the dharmacakramudra holding stems of lotuses flowering along the shoulders supporting the sword and manuscript, wearing monastic garment including a patchwork mantle with each section incised with a flower, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows that run into the nose-bridge and his head topped with the specific pointed bonnet, the front cast with the seven character mark Qianlong, resealed.
