China, 18th/19th century
L. 104 cm
Straight, double-edged sword of elegant Damascus steel, in a wrapped handle with typical hand guard in the shape of a sound stone (chin. bianqing) with dragon clouds in openwork relief. Matching sword ferrule and ruyi-shaped pommel. Also the decoration of the matching black lacquered wooden scabbard. The metal mounts are made of dark, partially gilded bronze. The sword can be worn hanging from the belt by two eyelets on the scabbard.
