Japan, underglaze-blue mark 'Inoue Ryosai, Meiji periodH. 24,5 cm
Finely potted and decorated in underglaze-blue, -brown, and -green, with a dragon among clouds and lightning above roaring waves, modelled in low relief with protruding eyes.
Born in 1827 in Seto, Inoue Ryosai moved to Edo (Tokyo) in 1866 and exhibited nationally and internationally from 1877 until 1903, winning many prizes.
