Mountains and city in Südchina . Ink and colours on paper. Framed under glass, inscription and signature of the artist: "Zur Beurteilung für Genossen Jiang Ke, gemalt im vierten Monat des Jahres 1973 in Nanjing. Qian Songyan gratefully executed the design. It is followed by a seven-word poem in which the artist evokes the beauty of his native Südchina. Four seals of the artist: "Qian", "Songyan", "sheng ming bu xi", "jinxiu heshan".
From a European private collection, according to tradition acquired in the early 1980s
Qian Songyan came from Yixing in Jiangsu province and taught at the Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Chinese Painting in Nanjing from 1957, where he later became director. In the 1960s, he belonged to the group of so-called Nanjing painters. He is a representative of the traditional Chinese landscape style, into which he integrated modern elements such as contemporary buildings and ideological content. He also created one of the monumental murals in the memorial hall for Mao Zedong on Tiananmen Square - Very minor traces of age
