attr. to Bernhard Strauss; active in Augsburg, circa 1662-1681H. 44 cm
The cup carved with a procession of eleven Olympian gods; Jupiter seated on a chariot at the centre, Venus to his left, then Juno, Diana, Mars, Hercules, Mercury, Hebe, Vulcan, Cupid and Neptune; the underside of the cup with acanthus leaf decoration; the knop beneath carved with putti and grotesque masks; the foot with three recumbent male figures; with a modern silverplated lid with finial. Very minor losses; minor shrinkage cracks. Ivory weight ca. 1881g., With EU sales permit for ivory, no. DE-DA 250916-7
