Signed BB= Bruxelles Brabant (city mark Brussels) and: P.V.B. for Peter van den Berghen - Depiction of a gallant scene. A lady in a formal robe is greeted by a countryman carrying a peacock in his woven basket, which the lady is tasting with her right hand. The lady is carrying a carrier bag on her left shoulder. The scene, set outdoors in a park-like landscape, is framed by a finely designed, opulent frame of flowering vines. A vase of flowers is centred in the lower part of the frame, while the upper part features a cartouche depicting a landscape. Signed lower right: B B. - P.V.B. Backed/lelined with textile. Damages due to age and reweaving, repairs, damages.
