A GERMAN BAROQUE AKELEI VERMEIL CUP

Description:

from Nördlingen, dated 1627
H. 21,3 cm/ D. 9 cm
Cast, chased, engraved and gilt silver. The akelei shaped cup with floral decoration and scrollwork, marked at the rim and stand with hallmark (eagle) and maker's mark of Christoph Hütter, later Austrian tax marks to rim. The bottom closed with an engraved round plaque showing a family coat of arms and inscription: "Casparius Shöperlin Gastgeb 1627". Ca. 244g. Minor dents.
