Description:
Pakistan, ancient region of Gandhara, 3rd/4th cent,H. 75,4 (86) cm
Standing in slight tribhanga on a pedestal carved with a lotus flower to its front, his right arm broken, the left hand stretched downwards and probably holding a section of his garment, wearing pleated dhoti fastened around his middle with a belt, scarf draped around his left shoulder, bejewelled, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, elongated earobes with pendeloque earrings, his hair combed in a chignon secured with a tiara and a head halo behind, on wood base.
From a North German private collection, according to the owner collected in the family before 1970 - Minor damages and old rest.
