Cambodia, Khmer, Angkor Vat period, 12th cent.

The rectangular frieze carved in deep relief with an apsara standing on a small pedestal, her right hand raised in front of her chest holding the stem of a lotus, her left resting on her hip, wearing sampot, scarf, bejewelled, her face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes, smiling lips, her hair combed in a chignon decorated with a high three-pointed crown and the figure placed within a floral ornamented niche, on stand.
