Pear-shaped, supported by a circular splayed foot, bulbous neck and serpentine spout and handle, the porcelain body decorated in underglaze-blue reserved on white with two large floral ogival medallions, the neck and underbelly decorated with registers of geometrical patterns, the spout with cloud-like motifs.
From an old German diplomate collection, thence by descent with the current owners
Cf. with a blue and white ewer that is almost identical apart from the floral scrolls flanking the central medallions on the body and with the handle and mouth replaced by gilt-copper mounts, sold at Sotheby's London, 26 April 2023, lot 109, as well as another similar ewer at Amir Mohtashemi, stock no.
