Description:

Thailand, Ayutthaya period, 17th cent.
H. 90,5 cm
Standing in samabhanga on a separate cast lotus base placed on an octagonal tiered pedestal, both hands in front of the abdomen supporting a separate cast alms-bowl, wearing uttarasangha and samghati, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, elongated earlobes, and the curled hairdo continuing into the ushnisha topped with an associated flame, traces of gilt-and black lacquer.
From the estate of the Helmut Ploog Collection (1940-2024), collected from 1965 onwards. Collection card preserved with the note acquired in the 1990s in Bangkok (approx. 4000 DM) - Somewhat worn and repaired
