Description:

Tibet, late 18th century
H. 13,5 cm
Standing in pratyalidhasana on a pair of figures reclining on a lotus base, his principle arms embracing his partner, the hands with karrtrika and kapala, the other four hands showing different gestures and attributes, winged, wearing tiger-skirt, mala of severed heads, bejewelled, his three-faced head displaying each a ferocious expression, his flaming hairdo set with a horse-head and secured with a tiara decorated with skulls, resealed. In addition figure, possibly Samvara, 19th/ 20th cent.
From the collection of the chemist, engineer and director of Merck & Co. Heinrich Georg Johann Harms (3 Sept. 1906-28 June 1975) and his wife Eva Harms (10 Nov. 1905-13 Oct. 1998), largely collected in Shanghai between 1935 and 1942 - Very slightly chipped and very minor traces of age, attributes partly lost
