Description:
Tibet, 12th/13th cent.H.5,7 cm
Seated in vajrasana on a lotus base decorated with the vajra-emblem to its front, his right hand lowered in the bhumisparshamudra while the left is resting on his lap holding a section of the monastic robe, another a small section is draped over his left shoulder, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, incised urna at his forehead, elongated earlobes touching his shoulders, the curled hairdo continuing into the ushnisha and topped with a lotus-bud, traces of cold-gilding, unsealed.
From the collection of the chemist, engineer and director of Merck & Co. Heinrich Georg Johann Harms (3.9.1906-28.6.1975) and his wife Eva Harms (10.11.1905-13.10.1998), largely collected in Shanghai between 1935 and 1942 - Minim. Traces of age
