The rectangular book cover is decorated with a deep relief showing Buddha Shakyamuni in the centre, seated in vajrasana on a lotus pedestal, standing on an elaborate throne surrounded by a flaming halo containing several Buddhas and a pair of devotees, his right hand in bhumisparshamudra, his face with a serene expression. To his right is the four-armed Manjuvajra and to his left Sadaksharilokeshvara, all surrounded by a multitude of tiny carved deities, within a foliate border decorated with a lokapala on each side. The reverse of the cover is without decorations, and stupas can be seen on one side.
From a Southern German private collection, collected by the father of the present owner in the 1970s until 1985 - Traces of age, slightly chipped
