Description:

Japan, marked Dai Nippon Bunsei nen Seimin chu, early 19th c.
H.54,9 cm
Quadrilobed base form with a bulbous body and a long neck, opening upwards and terminating in an octalobe. The front and back each feature a reserve depicting a Shishi among blooming peonies in openwork. On the neck, front and back, each has a reserve with a dragon amidst scrolling foliage. Lateral handles in the form of two fully modelled, winged dragons. Both vases with separate inserts. Bronze with a gilt patina, underside marked Dai Nippon Bunsei nen Seimin chu.
