A sandstone frieze

Description:

Cambodia, Khmer, Angkor Vat period, 12th cent.

The rectangular frieze is decorated with a deep relief, probably depicting an apsara whose right arm is stretched downwards while the left lies in front of her chest. The figure is placed in a flower niche entwined with vines on a wooden plinth.
