Description:

Probably Buriat Region, North-West China, early 20th cent.
H. 8,8 - 14,8 cm
The largest of rectangular shape depicting in the centre Simhavaktra in dancing posture, holding karttrika and kapala while a khatvanga is resting against her left shoulder, naked apart from a tiger-skirt, elephant-skin, her lion-face displaying a ferocious expression and flanked by another two animal-headed dakini’s; the second depicting Buddha Shakyamuni seated on a lotus base with his right hand in bhumisparshamudra; and the last one showing Tsongkhapa seated on a lotus base with both hands in dharmachakramudra and the lower register with a pair of debating monks flanking the central placed dharmapala, all three differently mounted.
