Description:
China, Ming DynastyH. 30 cm
Seated in rajalilasana on a rocky base placed on four tapering legs showing a deer to its front, his right hand resting on the raised right knee while the left is placed on the base, wearing dhoti, scarf draped around the shoulders, its streamers encircling the arms with the finials falling down, bejewelled, his face displaying a serene expression with downcast eyes below arched eyebrows, incised urna, the hair combed in a chignon secured with an elaborate tiara set with a figurine of Buddha Amitabha and the base issuing a pair of lotus flowers with one supporting an ewer.
From the estate of the Helmut Ploog Collection (1940-2024), according to the preserved collection card acquired in the 1990s from Georg L. Hartl in Munich for DM 2800, illustrated on an undated photo presumably from the 1990s (original preserved) - One leg on the stand and a small part of the crown with restoration, minor wear and slightly chipped
