Eagle on a high rock. Ink on paper, mounted as a hanging scroll. Inscription and signature: "In the eighth month of the yichou year (1925) painted by Wu Jun Jin Mengshi in Bangeng Caolu". Two artist's seals: He, Mengshi. Three other seals, including a collector's seal: Ploog.

Jin Mengshi was a painter and calligrapher from the late Qing dynasty and the Republic. He was born in Wuxian in Jiangsu province. He was a member of the Shanghai Painting and Calligraphy Research Association and was known for his unrestrained and expressive brushwork. His works include depictions of human figures, flowers, birds and animals
