A large and very rare enamel cachepot with Europeans and western style scenes

China, 18th century, mounted with a gilt European bronze stand, which was probably added in the late 19th century

Around the protruding wall four scenes with Europeans in garden landscapes in fine enamel next to borders decorated with chilong and colourful clouds on a yellow background. Pewter insert inside.
European private collection, owned by the family before 1970, originally collected in the second half of the 19th century in the diplomatic service in China - Damages and old overpainted sections, especially on the edge going inside
