A PAIR OF POLYCHROME WOOD ARCHITECTURAL ORNAMENTS

South China or Vietnam, 18th/19th cent.

Both ornaments are delicately carved in the form of crouching and bellowing lions with their heads turned towards the viewer and bulging eyes;over upturned noses, open mouths with flowers, double rows of teeth and hooves, floppy ears, curled mouths and sinuous tails, traces of gilding, on stands.
