Description:
China, Qianlong period138 x 86 (153,5 x 102) cm R.
Lampas, silk, satin weave, additional pattern weft: colored silk, gold thread, held by additional warp threads. Woven transverse the pattern - woven width = ca. 138 cm. Frame: satin silk (imperial yellow). Stretched on a wooden frame, which is broken in the lower part. Seven rows of each four images of Amitayus are woven into the silk of the hanging. He is shown with coral-red skin sitting on a lotus pedestal and holding an Amrita vessel decorated with jeweled flowers in front of him. Behind each figure is a radiant mandorla and clouds, with alternating staggered mountains and perforated decorative stones with pine trees and bamboo on the sides. Behind each head is a nimbus in blue, green, yellow, resp. white in varying order. The background is filled densely with staggered clouds, with the blue sky only visible in the top row.
