Description:
Vietnam, Hanoi, signed Kôyô, 20th c.H. 31 cm
Depicting a young standing woman on a square base, dressed in a long robe almost entirely covering her trousers and wearing simple sandals. Her facial features are graceful, the short hair held in place by a headband. A drum (?) is attached to her left shoulder by a cord. Dark-patinated bronze, signed on the base to the left.
European private collection, assembled between 1970 and 1998 - Ishikawa Minao (石川巳七雄, 20th century), known by his artist name Koyo (浩洋), graduated from the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. In the early 20th century he settled in Hanoi, where he headed the foundry department at the local vocational school and taught metal casting techniques - Minor wear, shoulder strap repaired, one small chip
