Cylindrical teapot with elaborate relief decoration of a coiled dragon forming the handle and spout, and a smaller dragon serving as the finial on the lid. The body richly decorated in enamels and gold with chrysanthemums, peonies and bamboo in the characteristic Satsuma palette of red, green, blue, and gilt. The underside with the blue Shimazu crest and gilt signature Satsuma-yaki Setsuzan.
