With this work Udo Lindenberg revisits one of his best-known song titles: "Alles klar auf der Andrea Doria" (1973), a phrase long embedded in German pop culture. The motif fuses music history and painting into a wry total artwork.
The "Andrea Doria", the legendary Italian ocean liner, serves Lindenberg as a stage for his laconic "No Panic" philosophy. Glass in hand, the iconic figure in a black hat sits at the bow while mermaids circle the ship - cheerful, undaunted, unperturbed by shipwreck. Humor, irony, and pop iconography converge in a quintessential example of his "Likörelle" and acrylic works, in which the musician has cultivated his pictorial idiom.
The painting reflects Lindenberg’s unmistakable tone: a mix of nonchalance, self-irony, and cult status. Works of this kind not only form a charming bridge between music and art; in recent years they have also established themselves on the art market and enjoy growing popularity among collectors.
With clear signature, close thematic ties to his musical oeuvre, and the iconic fusion of song and image, this work embodies a piece of German pop history - "Alles klar - No Panic".
