Wood with black and white coating. “Kpan” or “Ndoma” mask of the “Goli” group. Fine and elegant face mask with a high, towering hairstyle made of several strands that end in a kind of central knot. Around the mouth opening there is a suggestion of decorative scarification.
From the collection of Helmut Zake (1918-1995), Heidelberg, German historian and founder of the Society for Ethnology and Tribal Art, inherited within the family - Partly minor wear and only few fine age cracks
