Description:
Probably late roman, 3rd - 4th century ADH. 28 cm (o.S.)
Light marble. Male head with carefully arranged, finely chiselled hair and beard. The forehead is modelled with folds, and the eye area is deeply incised. Mounted on base.
From the estate of a former German diplomat, mentioned on a 1967 invoice from Toni Rommel, restorer at the Badisches Landesmuseum, for mounting on a pedestal, documented in a photograph taken in the owner's home in 1971 - Damage due to age
