Description:

Eastern Central Anatolia, Sivas (?), circa 1800

An archaically patterned kilim with strong, vibrant colour. The full width of the weave is structured into colour-varied striped panels featuring alternating parmaklı (“fingered”) motifs. These are interspersed with fine lines and diagonally patterned geometric borders with prominent white accents.
From a significant European private collection, formed between the 1980s and the early 2000s - Cf.: Yayla, Brueggemann, Frankfurt (1993), Plate 8 - Partially damaged and signs of wear, mounted on red-ground textile
