Description:
India, 18th century and laterU.a. 15 x 22 cm; 17 x 7,8 cm
Lady by Moonlight, probably Deccan, Hyderabad 1760. Between two houses, one of whose entrances is spanned by a red canopy stretched up on poles, sits a lady leaning against a cushion. A servant bows before her. Behind her is a fountain with fountains and fish, as well as a garden with flowerbeds. Moonlight mood; Indian palace with banana trees, probably Moghul 18th h. Two women sit in front of a white marble palace, flanked by two servants. In front a small water basin and two banana trees. Above the scene a two-column inscription; a.o. ladies in garden landscapes 19th/20th century
From an old Stuttgart private collection, collected since the 1960s, partly also from old family property - The first miniature acquired according to records at Kevorkian, Quai Malaquais Paris, on 3 April 1976; the second miniature acquired according to records in 1984 at Galerie Soin in Munich, the other two acquired in the German art trade - Minor wear and traces of age, minor rest.
