Description:

Possibly Multan, Sindh, 18th /19 th c. or earlier

Fragments of inscription band friezes. Glaze with a white slip, decoration in cobalt blue and turquoise. The Thuluth calligraphic ductus, rendered in a light glaze, contrasts with the cobalt-blue ground. The larger tile shows two superimposed friezes, separated by a narrow border with a floral scroll. Remnants of the floral arabesque frame are visible along the left edge. The smaller tile is framed by a turquoise band.
From a North German private collection, assembled before 1967 by the grandfather according to the present owner - Age-related wear, edges partially chipped, the smaller tile minimally restored
