Emirate of Bukhara, 19th cent.156 x 95 cm
Fine needlework in polychrome silk on a cotton background. The green-ground "mihrab" is made of unpatterned fabric, while the magnificent border frame is very finely embroidered with dense floral and leafy scrollwork. Fabric backed.
From a Berlin private collection, acquired before 2007 - Minim. stains. The unpatterned "Mihrab" possibly added later
