Description:

Corinthian, ca. 600 - 575 BC
H. 7,3 cm
Low, slightly tapered pyx with two short, horizontally attached tab handles. The body is decorated all around with an animal frieze in the black-figure style, the upper rim with a band of S-shaped dot motifs; the foot with a frieze of tongues and rays. The iconography and ornamentation are typical of Corinthian artefacts from around 600 BC, when animal friezes and rosettes dominated the pictorial field.
