Three star-shaped tiles

Description:

Persia, 13th-14th century
D. ca. 20 cm
Each with a central design in brown lustre glaze, depicting respectively a bird, a floral motif, and a cypress design. Framed by borders in blue or white glaze, two incorporating a continuous Naskh inscription band. Tiles of this type were highly popular and originally served as architectural decoration on Ilkhanid buildings.
From a North German private collection, assembled before 1967 by the grandfather according to the present owner - Edges partly damaged, one tile broken and rest.
