Description:
Probably Ottoman, second half of the 16th c.16 x 39 cm / 20,2 x 44 cm
Glazed in turquoise and black. Fragment of a continuous pattern repeat with stylised palmettes and arabesques. Tiles with this pattern decoration, which is based on four tiles forming a complete motif, are especially known from the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem; also in a blue-and-white variant.
From a North German private collection, assembled before 1967 by the grandfather according to the present owner - Partial damages to the glaze and surface, slightly chipped, two tiled each mounted in a wood frame
