Private Collection Baden-Wurttemberg.
The Pont-de-Claix, one of the seven wonders of the Dauphiné, was a particularly popular subject for landscape painters in the Isère department during the 19th century. The bridge, which spans the river Drac, was commissioned by François de Bonne, Duke of Lesdiguières, to ensure and facilitate access to Grenoble for the farmers of Claix.
