Portrait of Jan Brueghel the Elder (?). Oil/canvas, relined, verso on the canvas an undistinct lacquer seal, on reverse of the frame a fragmentary label from the auction house J.M. Heberle (H. Lempertz Söhne) with numbering 40.
Southern German private collection. The portrait probably derives from the well-known copper engraving after A. v. Dyck, which depicts the elder Jan Brueghel in half-length, with his cloak drawn across his chest.
