Tibet, 18th/ 19th cent.

Each banner is consisting of an upper gilt-copper plaque embossed with a kirtimukha head depicting protruding eyes below bushy eyebrows, pair of curved horns and open beak showing teeth, hinged below with six square gilt-copper plaques depicting from top to bottom Buddha Shakyamuni, Sadaksharilokeshvara, Vaishravana, khyung-bird, caparisoned horse, caparisoned elephant and the last of a shaped plaque showing a mantra, all plaques sewn to a velvet banner terminating in tassels.
